Guardamar del Segura
Guardamar del Segura, or briefly Guardamar, is a municipality of the Valencian Community, Spain. It is located on the southeast coast of the province of Alicante, in the comarca of Vega Baja del Segura, and at the mouth of the river Segura, which ends in the Mediterranean Sea.
It is a Mediterranean resort, with a large pine forest abutting an 11-km-long white sand beach. Some of the beaches are, from north to south, Los Tusales, Los Viveros, Babilonia, Playa Centro, La Roqueta, El Moncayo, El Campo and Las Ortigas.
As regards the local cuisine, Guardamar boasts some of the best dishes prepared with local produce and typical ingredients from sea and land. It is worth tasting the typical fish and rice dishes, such as the Caldero, and Guardamar’s famous king prawns.
